Company Profile and History
|
|
|
IPT is a petroleum engineering services company managed by practicing petroleum engineers that have extensive operator and service
company experience. We specialize in most aspects associated with the integration of modern well completion , hydraulic fracture stimulation and petroleum reservoir engineering technologies in horizontal and vertical wells. We do not provide drilling
engineering services.
We are known as hydraulic fracture stimulation specialists. IPT's technology works because of our extensive technical reservoir
engineering background that began with our employment at oil and gas production companies and it is this technical base that anchors our ability to continuously
optimize well completion and fracture stimulation approaches. At IPT, appropriate reservoir engineering dictates the ability to
credibly evaluate different well completion and hydraulic fracture stimulation techniques.
IPT began in 1991 as a production company and quickly evolved into an independent petroleum consulting firm specializing in well completion and fracture stimulation optimization. By 1994, IPT was a primary
contractor for the Gas Research Institute (GRI), which is now known as the Gas Technology Institute (GTI), with funding in
excess of $1,000,000 per year to implement, evaluate and deploy advanced stimulation technologies (AST) to the gas well producing industry. From 1993 to 1998, IPT taught industry schools, presented technical papers and wrote project reports for GRI on a regular basis. From 1992 to
2000, IPT received 10 industry awards for successful oil and gas well completion and hydraulic fracture stimulation projects.
Our reputation as FRACPRO/FracproPT advanced users grew from
our GRI contract where IPT was a primary tester, developer and trainer of the software for RES and GRI. IPT was the first
independent consulting firm to own a corporate license for FRACPRO, which was later converted to FracproPT. We use this important tool on every well and have advanced in-house training for our stimulation specialists. |

After 2000, IPT internalized a large amount of our continuous study-derived petroleum engineering technology and made a conscious decision to discontinue the broad distribution of these successful advances through technical papers and other
publicity mechanisms. Since then, the study and implementation of different well completion and fracture stimulation approaches has
accelerated while our technique and expertise have evolved to a significant degree. We are aware of the significant differences in
service company mixing methods, liquid additive systems and chemistry. Linking this aspect to the fracturing mechanics and reservoir producing aspects improves on-site decisions which enhances our ability to achieve optimal lateral proppant distribution and production response. Our customized well completion,
hydraulic fracture stimulation and reservoir models are relatively accurate in most
formations and applications.
IPT has been involved with over 12,000 oil and gas well completions in the last 9 years, including over 2,000 completions during 2009 alone. This
experience ranges from shallow to very deep high temperature and pressure applications, vertical and horizontal wells, and
includes most rock types, fluid systems and service companies.
We have learned that appropriate field experience and application trumps the best
engineering and planning done in the office. IPT's training procedures teach our field stimulation specialists to read the well response and make recommendations to the client based on what is best for the well, not to simply put a frac job in the ground. IPT has in-house schools and extensive
on-site training to ensure our clients are dealing with a company with continuity that understands we are there to serve them.
IPT's is a petroleum engineering service company with a culture that has always fostered continuous study and improvement. We persistently upgrade our in-house training programs and improve our petroleum engineering and administrative
procedures. Our internally developed well completion and hydraulic fracture stimulation technologies are consistently successful and evolve rapidly. We
genuinely look forward to learning more and continuing to help our clients succeed. |
